In an article titled " Diamonds are Forever: Masters relish racing opportunities at Diamond State regatta" by Ruth Lyons. Rob Slocum's race results are acknowledged.

" The most popular event of the day was the men's C-E single with 29 entries and six heats. This race was a close one between Rob Slocum and Jaime Rubini in their heat as well as for the overall trophy. However, in the sprint Slocum, from Norwalk River RA, was able to pull ahead to a 1.5 second lead and a winning time of 3:45.72, Rubini had a respectable time of 3:47.16."
