Independent Rowing News, 11 October, 2001, Vol. 8, No. 16, Page 6 In his editorial, "Simple Answers" Chris Milliman, mentions Rob Slocum: " I know there are non-elites who push the envelope when it comes to training. The ultra-endurance exploits of Norwalk's Rob Slocum have been written about in these pages. Slocum, 52, is definitely a stud when it comes to spinning the erg- he does 100,000-meter erg tests, need I say more- and his on-the-water record is improving all the time, with a list of wins in the single at masters event that are piling up. But as serious as Slocum is about racing, and he is pretty serious, I don't imagine that he thinks he's six months away from beating Aquil Abdullah or any other U.S. National Team sculler in the single." |
