Training Services

Racing programs are for the competitive rower whose focus is improving results in sweep, sculling, or indoor rowing events ranging from 1000-meters to head races, marathons, or ultra-distance.  Whether you are an experienced racer or just starting your first season, a Roylerow Racing Program will take your training to the next level with effective workouts and coaching support from Marlene to prepare you physiologically, technically, and mentally for a peak performance on regatta day. Individual plans are specifically for one athlete. Team2 plans are for two athletes who train together but share one program. Group plans are available for clubs or school teams and coach support programs assist coaches in the preparation of their team for competition.

Individual Program Basic Training Plan

The Individual Basic Training Plan provides you with daily water or land workouts designed with your goals in mind. Emailed to you in 6- to 12-week phases, Marlene's plans develop the physiological systems specific to your racing distances (1000m, 2000m, 5000m, marathon, or ultra-distance) and fit your time available for exercising. Time-trials and events are included in your plan to measure progress. If you are making the transition into competitive rowing or racing a single, Marlene will guide you through your first season. If you row with a team but want to supplement your training Marlene can set up a plan to compliment your team sessions or to train better in the off-season.

Marlene helps you to set realistic goals, decide your racing objectives, evaluate your performance, and provides feedback on your progress. Interactive email support throughout your subscription period is key for answering questions, discussing tactics or managing issues such as how to adjust your training when you have a busy work schedule or an illness that is making it hard to stay on track.

If you train with a team, you can describe how you would like to work with Marlene to supplement your club rowing.

The Individual Training plan fee includes your written training programs, email support for the duration of your subscription, and reference material updates. Basic plan subscribers also receive one video review per year.

The Individual Premium Training Plan is for the athlete who wants a program that is monitored more closely and is highly interactive with Marlene. Daily exercise plans are written one month at a time allowing your workouts to be adjusted according to your progress and areas needing improvement.

Included are all of the components of the basic training plan plus Marlene will provide a peak plan overview, a log book to review your training every month, and priority email support. Premium training plan annual subscribers also receive three video reviews per year. This level of training is the best for a highly motivated athlete that wants a consistent dialogue with Marlene to get the most out of training and learn to perform better.

The Shared Team Basic Training Plan provides you and your teammates with daily water or land workouts designed with your goals in mind. The Shared Team Premium Training Plan is for athletes that want a program that is monitored closely and is highly interactive with Marlene. Daily exercise plans are written one month at a time which allows your workouts to be refined according to your progress, strengths, and areas in need of improvement. If your team is more than two athletes you should subscribe to the Group Plan.

Included are all of the components of the Shared Team Basic Training Plan plus Marlene will provide a peak plan overview, a log book to review your training every month, and priority email support. Shared Team Premium annual subscribers are entitled to three technical analysis. This level of training is the best for highly motivated athletes that want a consistent dialogue with Marlene to get the most out of training and learning to perform better.

Group Plans

Marlene's Group Training Plan Program provides groups, rowing clubs, or school programs with a detailed training schedule for their recreational or competitive programs. Every month of your subscription your organization's training plan will be updated based on the your feedback, race dates, and goals of your program.

Each organization designates a plan administrator to be the communicator with Marlene forwarding questions or feedback and to distribute the training schedule to club members, coaches, or students.

The Group Plan fee includes written daily training programs, email support via the plan administrator for the duration of your subscription, and reference material updates. Group subscribers also receive one technical analysis.

Getting Started

To take the first step towards setting up your training program with Marlene Royle, simply send an email to Marlene at requesting an initial interview form. Marlene will email you the Roylerow Initial Interview which will ask you detailed information about your rowing history, current level of fitness, and your rowing goals. Payment plan information is also included.

Once you are enrolled in a program, if you should need to put your subscription time on hold due to injury or other obligations you may freeze your program time for up to one year.

*A one-time registration fee for new clients includes your initial assessment based on your interview information, relevant fitness tests, and reference materials. Marlene's Roylerow eNotebook comes with program guidelines, a technique section with drills, land training section, and reference articles.
